Protecting Access and Performance of the ABRI Internet Solutions
We are committed to providing stable, reliable, and high-quality online services to all our users. Recently our Internet Solutions (I4) online search platform has experienced a significant increase in automated, non-human traffic.
Much of the data on Internet Solutions is intentionally publicly available. This supports non-members, prospective buyers, and the broader livestock industry with access to key information such as EBVs and pedigree data in the lead-up to sales or when making breeding decisions. While the system’s openness enhances accessibility, it also increases exposure to unauthorised automated systems – often called “data scrapers” or “bots” – attempting to collect large amounts of information in ways that place heavy and unfair demands on our servers.
This excess automated traffic can reduce performance for genuine users, leading to slow page loading times or, in some cases, temporary unavailability. To address this, we have implemented additional security measures in partnership with Cloudflare, a leading provider of web security solutions.
What will change for you as a user?
When you visit Internet Solutions, you may now see a brief security challenge page before you can continue. This is a normal and intentional step. The challenge is designed to verify that access is coming from a real person, not an automated system. Typically, this process takes only a few seconds and requires no special action from you other than waiting momentarily for the verification to complete.
We have also put in place a temporary redirect to a new site address, i4.abri.au. This should not change how you access Internet Solutions, and you should continue to access the site via your existing breed society website links and any saved Internet Solutions bookmarks. We ask that you do not replace your existing bookmarks with the new address as it may change in the future.
We understand these changes may introduce a minor delay; however they are essential to:
Protect the integrity and stability of our site
Ensure fair access and performance for genuine users
Reduce the impact of unauthorised automated data scraping on server capacity
These changes reflect our ongoing commitment to safeguarding the availability of our services and delivering the best possible experience for all users. We will continue to monitor traffic patterns and adjust our security measures as needed. We appreciate your support, understanding and patience as we work to keep our services reliable for everyone.
If you have any questions, concerns or experience any issues accessing the site, please don’t hesitate to contact your society, ABRI staff or log a ticket via our online support portal here.
